Our Adventurous Arrival in Fiji: A Rollercoaster of Surprises

Introduction:
Welcome to our exciting journey in Fiji! From unexpected twists to heartwarming encounters, our first few days on this beautiful island have been nothing short of eventful. Join us as we recount our experiences, from rental car mishaps to exploring the local markets and indulging in mouthwatering meals.

Car Rental Woes:
Upon landing in Fiji, we were eager to pick up our rental car and head to our hotel. However, to our dismay, the Hertz representative was nowhere to be found. Thankfully, a kind-hearted Avis employee named Asma came to our rescue. Not only did she apologize for the inconvenience, but she also offered us a car for our entire stay, starting with an 8-passenger van. Little did we know that this van would attract attention everywhere we went, as locals mistook it for a taxi!

Hotel Hiccups:
After the car rental ordeal, we arrived at our hotel only to find out that our booked room was occupied by four people. Fortunately, the issue was swiftly resolved, and we were able to settle into the room we had originally reserved. The breathtaking beauty of Fiji awaited us, and we wasted no time immersing ourselves in its splendor.

Exploring Fiji:
We embarked on a journey to explore the local markets and downtown shops, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere. To celebrate Ezekiel’s 18th birthday, we dined at a steakhouse on a ship in the ocean – a truly unforgettable experience. Another highlight was visiting the island where the movie “Cast Away” was filmed, ticking off a bucket list item for one of us. Snorkeling, swimming in crystal-clear waters, and enjoying a leisurely cruise made it a day to remember.

Family Time and Reflection:
Before diving into conference activities, we cherished some quality family time. After the recent loss of our beloved grandpa, this period of relaxation and togetherness was much-needed. It helped us unwind, decompress, and reconnect with one another. And yes, we couldn’t resist indulging in some fast food favorites, relishing our first taste of Burger King after 16 months without it.

Preparing for the Future:
Our Sunday service with Brother Setoki was inspiring, allowing us to preach and connect with the local community. We discussed ways to support and equip the Fiji Churches for future growth. This week, we will be meeting with ministers to identify their most pressing needs and determine how we can assist them in progressing further.

Conclusion:
Our initial days in Fiji have been a whirlwind of surprises, challenges, and unforgettable moments. From rental car mishaps to mouthwatering meals and heartwarming encounters, we’ve experienced the true essence of this beautiful island. Stay tuned as we embark on our first National Conference in Fiji, eager to make a positive impact and continue sharing our journey with you. Thank you for your unwavering prayers and support!
