A Challenging Time in PNG: Prayers Needed

Hey there, readers! It’s time for another update from Bro Marshall. Today, we have bittersweet news to share – we’re back in the US. Currently, we’re staying in Connersville, IN, patiently waiting for deputation. However, our hearts remain heavy as we continue to pray for the situation in Papua New Guinea (PNG), which seems to be deteriorating rather than improving.

The gravity of the situation has led to a request for the UN’s intervention. The safety of the mall our kids were planning to visit is now compromised, with a tragic incident resulting in the loss of 17 lives, occurring just hours after our children were in the vicinity. Moreover, five provinces have experienced failed elections, and there have been several reported murders over the past week alone.

Sadly, this election has now become the worst recorded in PNG’s history, surpassing all previous records in terms of fatalities and arrests. It’s a truly distressing time for the country. We kindly ask you to keep PNG in your prayers during this period of unrest.

On a brighter note, in our next podcast episode, we’ll have all our children, as well as our granddaughter, joining us. We believe it’s important for people to hear directly from them about their experiences and emotions while working in the field, especially when things start to crumble. There were 72 critical hours that prompted our superiors to advise us to return to the US, and during this time, our kids were genuinely scared for our safety.

Thank you for your continued support, and may God’s blessings be with you always.

Stay tuned for more updates,
Bro Marshall
